Nature Folk Studio

The founders of Nature Folk wanted to create an open and relaxed wellness studio that consciously considers the health and care of nature and its folk.

Situated in a uniquely long building on Portland Street in Dartmouth, NS, this interior renovation project transformed a pawn shop overflow storage site into a serene and relaxing infrared sauna and massage therapy studio. The client's vision for their space was functional minimalism with a nod to the rugged maritime coastline - a sort of Nordic Spa experience that was easily accessible to an urban clientele.

Transitioning from a bright and airy retail space, users are led from the front entrance to a private sauna room through a soft lit hallway. The space features continuous hemlock floors, oversized concrete tiles, diffused lighting and custom cedar benches throughout, all designed to celebrate nature and encourage people to spend as much time as they need in the space. Creating the ability to move seamlessly from the sauna to their own private treatment room, users are easily transported from urban landscape to oceanside retreat.
